Default Series 3 1-Tonne Transfer Box - Overdrive?

Hi

I own a 1975 Norwegian ex-military Series 3 109. It happens to have a 1-tonne transfer case on it, which doesn't exactly provide a blistering top speed.

I have been looking around at overdrive units, but the ones I have been able to find so far aren't compatible with the 1-tonne transfer case. Are there any that are?

I've never heard of an overdrive for the 1-tons.
Is your 109 actually a 1 ton or did someone just fit the 1 ton gearbox?
Where are you located?

I live just outside Oslo in Norway. The car has (as far as I know) the transfer box it came delivered with. And according to the specs the Norwegian army ordered, it has a 1-ton box.

How can I identify what box is actually on it?

There's a serial number on the gearboxes.
Here's a forum that will help you identify if you have a real 1-ton, but it sounds like you might.

If you were here in the states I'd swap you a gearbox setup, I want a 1-ton setup.

Default I ton gearbox and transfer

I too have an ex-Norwegian Army 1975 Series III, 109 diesel with a 1 ton gearbox and transfer case. It came with the candy wrappers still inside, sat in a field for 8 years. I bought it and drive it almost daily. It is really slow, but has a lot of power. I am interested in swapping out the entire gear/trans for a series 3 std unit. Anybody interested? I'm in Maine, USA
