Default 99 Range Rover Reliability??

Hey guys. I have a question or questions... I am about to buy either a used Range Rover 99 or 2000 or either a used Tahoe/Yukon. I had a 03 Disco2 a few years back and it was "ok". I did have some issues with it and other people I know did as well, and also have heard that they aren't very reliable. The vehicles I am looking at have between 95-140k miles. This will be a semi-daily driver (fairly short distances) and also used to tow my boat to the landing (6miles). I know Chevy/GMC have a pretty good chance of lasting 200-300k miles but how about the RR's? I really like the styling of the RR more but I need to be responsible (for once in my life) and get the best car for me now. This will have to last me 3-4yrs while I go back to school and need to keep expenses low.
Also, I have a 26ft Scout boat that weighs around 6000lbs w trailer/fuel/etc. WIll the RR pull it with no problems? The trailer does have brakes. Thanks in advance!!

Considering that the Rover will last for quite a while but it will not if on a cheap budget. I have not looked at the towing rating but I think that 6000# may be too much to tow with it, I will let someone else chime in on that one since I am too lazy to go look at my manual, if it is really only 6 miles then it probably will be fine, depnding on how steep the ramp is there can some major stress on the truck.

It will need Premium fuel and sythetic oil which most people who are on budget tend to skip over, it will cause more problems than it is worth. I would loive to tell you to buy the Rover but if you are expecting it to operate just like a Tahoe then it is not for you.

Just my .02

I have to agree with Rob. If you are only driving it a few miles I would go with the Tahoe. The reason to go with the RR would be for luxury and comfort and I don't think you could really take advantage or enjoy either of these in 6 miles.
