Thanks to all who replied. While continuing to search the web for advise on fixing my HEVAC problems I found this great site with details and photos on how to replace the leaking O-ring seals and to replace faulty blend motors: http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdet...lendmotor.html. I haven't started to dig into the job, but will soon. I know from my previous under-the-dash work that some things said to be simple to do can be very frustrating the first time you do it.

actually to replace the coolant orings you take out the radio and hvac module and the two sides and the the lower instrument cover on the passenger side. take a long screwdriver number two bit about two feet long and put it thru a spot just underneath the radio housing to fit into the screw. you can feel the screw head and guide the screwdriver into it. what ever you do, don't back out the screw all the way. just enough to release the backing plate.
