Hatch latch locking troubles

Hatch latch locking troubles by Mrmerlin » Sun Jun 26, 2011 5:41 am 2005 HSE the hatch unlock lock cycles about 3 times when the remote is pushed , and the top portion of the hatch wont fully unlock unless the door is pulled , after readjusting the lower door and upper door now the cargo lights wont go off. Also when closing the top sometimes the door will close but not latch then pop open then close and latch kinda like its bouncing off the latching mechanism and not latching then on the second bounce it latches. The hatch was working fine then this whole thing starts going on./ Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this, The top hatch latch is really put together well and i am reluctant to try to take it apart as its riveted together, but that might be the next step How much is a new part?

look at the striker to make sure its not loose. if its loose then pop the small caps on the end of the bottom door and take the screws out and pull off the trim and tighten down. just make sure to line the door up right.
