Some questions.
So my 2002 Range Rover I picked up a couple weeks ago is doing really well. She is running perfectly. I flushed the oil and converted to a 5-50 Castrol Syntech, and I also flushed and replaced the coolant.
So I was out driving around to brokers opens today and one home I had to park on a pretty steep hill. As I started to go up the hill I heard a strange noise, it almost sounded like my ABS kicking on but slightly louder and I had my foot on the gas and not the break. Perhaps something with the suspension? I have not taken it off road yet, but I am sure I would hear this noise if I did take it off road, and I never used to hear it in my disco. Any ideas? Car operated fine, just kind of took me by surprise.
Also I need to get some new tires soon, the tires it came with are pretty worn. What would everyone suggest? I won't do to much offroading but want a decent tire. I think on my Disco I had Goodyears. Just so you know in the winter I switch to Bridgestone Blizzak's. What else does everyone use?

It was probably the traction control. The traction control uses the ABS system to stop the wheels that are spinning so if it sounded like the abs it probably was. Were you on pavement or dirt/grass? Was there snow or was it wet? A light should come on in the dash telling you that the TC is working. Even on dry pavement with bad tires on a very steep hill could cause it to active if you gunned it enough.

I have the Michelin LTX A/T2 and I LOVE them. I have put about 10K miles on them so far. For my job I drive 90% highway, 5% city, and 5% off road. It handles well in all conditions. Best M/S I have every had for off road yet they are quiet and smooth on the road. There is a close up picture in my album (go under my profile.)
