99 bosch is not starting. No usual clicking associated with battery and starter. Tried jumping battery nothing. Hits starter while cranking nothing. Hit fuel tank while cranking nothing. Tested battery and alt couple of weeks ago and both are in range. Stuck at work. Any in put besides a tow truck is appreciated. Thanks

Well found out it was the starter. Small conncecting wire melted/rotted away. Jump the wires with a scewdriver and got it home. Tried to start again to pull it up further in the drive way and it started a fire. Sparks hit the melted wire and oil lucky I had my garden hose to put it out. What a night. Hopefully all is well when I check it in the morning for a starter changout

If it is just the wire, you could probably just replace the wire. The starters on these vehicles rarely fail due to wearing out from what I have read. Just a thought.

You think. How can I just change out the wire? Looked at the rave cd. Still little lost on how to change out the starter. Round bolts are they kidding me? 6 mm allens..

Depending on which wire it is, yes you can replace it. If it is the thick red wire that one is very easy to replace.

The little wire is simply the trigger wire for the starter. It should be pretty easy to repair. You may not even have to remove the starter. Just be sure to disconnect the neg bat terminal first if you are removing the starter or wrenching in that area.

Thanks again guys for the advice. Hopefully I can just change it out. Do the solenoid come off the starter itself?

Might consider the possibility of a crank shaft positions sensor failure. Its a fairly common problem for bosch rovers and relatively easy to repair. Have you checked to see if you get spark?
