Innovative. Just got to check it periodically to make sure it doesn't start rusting your rack or brushguard

Well the cable is coated so the coating is what sits on the metal not the cable.
And the cable is galvanized so it wont rust either.
I'm going to get lock washers for the bolts on the cable clamps but that is the only thing I need to change.

Did mine inspire u? Lol. my cable stretched I had to retighten the cable around the clamps. were u able to get it taunt? I put the turnbuckle in with a quick clip and a carabener so I can take them on and off when not on the trail. But all that extra hardware brings you to the $40 range.

Yes I can get them taught, I just slide the ends that are on the brush bar in or out, in and they are tight, out and they sag ever so little and I can open the hood.
I was going to use a turn buckle and other fancy stuff but I decided to go cheap and simple and so far I like it.
I am going to ponder my set up for awhile and see if I want to add to the set up.
I've been wanting to do this for a year or so and it was always to complicated, so I went ultra simple.

I dunno.
Why wouldn't they be?

I guess the comments at bushcables.com were directed to the Brits. I was just checking.

British and EU laws are stricter, although California has it's own issues.

The problem with vinyl coated cable is the vinyl yellows with UV exposure and it tears especially at friction points. Also, the galvanized cable will rust with time -- look at any old winchline, most of which are galvanized steel cable. Bare stainless steel cable would be better but I haven't found any locally.

Bush cables are really just improvised junk but if you want some bling, here you go: ADJUSTABLE CABLE CONNECTOR from Aircraft Spruce

and here's the SS cable: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalo...ntrolcable.php

Thumbs up

Spike - NICE. I like the no-drilling, non-invasive technique, very nice. Have you tested it against branches to see if it will slide in or out on the brush guard? (Or do you care) I have been very pleased with the performance of the coated cable I used, and I haven't been pulled over for mine, and I have passed city cops and state patrol....

RANT : nevada_ben - Do you EVER have anything positive to say? Every comment I read from you is you pissing on someone else's parade. Not everyone posts on the forums to hear you pick their ideas apart and here about why you think there idea is no good.
