Don't you get a big tax break if you live in Alaska?

You get a dividend check every year once you've established residency. This years is something like $1,900.00. No sales tax either but that may have changed since I lived there.

Just wanted to post an update on the progress. I have found a retired marine from ExpeditionPortal who has expressed serious interest in joining me on my trip however he does not have a license. I was hoping to reserve two seats in my truck then organize a caravan for this trip. The reserved seats for people who could continue driving my truck when Im to tired and need to sleep. But he does have some experience in photography and he has camera gear. Hes good at taking field notes so he will be able to help me with taking pictures, and video journals during the trip. A valuable asset.

I guess he served in the marines for roughly 8 years, part of the time he was part of a machine gun team then transferred to bomb squad. He was injured and discharged in good standing I assume. I guess his eyesight was permanently damaged so it is unsafe for him to drive. I think we will get along just fine and I may have made a new friend so I look forward to meeting the guy.

I purchased a 40" lightbar and some new stickers for my truck and I will post them in my build thread once they ship in the mail. Still have one more seat open if anybody wants to join and I still want to put a caravan together.

Another update. A second person has expressed interest in tagging along, except this guy has already been up to Ak before and worked at the same facility I did 2 years ago! I referred him and he loved it, now he wants to go back up but this time he wants to drive up in his 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. His truck looks very nice for the year and it has under 80k. Has not been the most reliable vehicle in the short time he has had it (AC compressor and components, brake pipe and tires, plus there is early stages of rot in the truck-bed) but its still in overall good shape and I expect he should have no problems. He will be the first person to tag along with another vehicle so if he pulls through then this will be the beginning of a joint venture caravan from New Hampshire to Alaska! I will try to meet up with him on a day to take some pictures of our trucks side by side and post them here.

So so far 2 people are likely to be joining me on this trek. Again I still have at least one more seat available in my truck if anybody wants to tag along and your welcome to bring your own vehicle.

Just read this and was wondering if you had any more updates? It's a very neat idea to drive. My grandparents drove from Oklahoma to Alaska back in the 80's. They drove an 80-something Dodge Ram diesel with a bed camper on the back. My Grandpa still has the truck and drives it every once in a while.
