Default My DOH! moment.

Sat. morning I changed the oil on the Disco and cleaned the MAF.
Worked on a friends Suburban too.
My truck sat from Sat's oil change until today when I went back to work.
Taking off from every stop the engine hesitated, my Ultra-Gauge read "err" for the MPG. I cycled the screens and when I saw the MAF readings I knew exactly what was wrong.
I finished my trip into work, truck ran great except for taking off from stops.
After work I opened the hood, plugged the MAF back in and no more problems.
The MAF readings were "--", meaning no input from the MAF because I had forgotten to plug it back in.
The check engine light did not come on, the truck ran normal on the highway, idled fine too.
It was just the hesitation while trying to accelerate while the ECU figured out what to do without a MAF reading.

So far your repair is still my favorite "I'm stuck on the side of the road and I gotta get her running again" roadside repair.

We have all done something like this: I replaced a radiator hose, filled it up with fluid (half qt short) then put the hood down for the evening... Next morning got up started truck and drove to school. It wasn't until I pulled into the school lot the coolant started to piss out the expansion tank and hit the exhaust pipe and suddenly my rover is steaming. I knew right away what had happened... But my Dean of students called the fire fighters anyway.... YA, I know...

That's embarrassing. Unfortunately not too long ago I forgot to put my oil cap back on. I went wheeling the rest of the day unknowingly. 24 hours later...I open the hood and it sits on the radiator, hadn't moved an inch. Underneath the cap was the only clean circle under the hood.
