Default My New Project

A friend of mine is actually giving a Land Rover Series 2. It needs a lot of work but I am fortunate to have a good friend with a huge stock of parts for these trucks who already said I can have whatever I need. It's rough but I think I can have it drivable by the end of summer pretty cheaply. The original red hood that has the spare tire mount is in the front seat. It comes complete with the diesel engine minus the cylinder head, transmission/transfer case and clutch in the back, seats that need reupholstered, and I'm hoping a tailgate in there somewhere. From what I'm told the removable top utility version like this is the more desirable version of the Series trucks.

Shooooot, it's already all ready to sand and paint, nothing left to tape off!

That looks like a great project, good luck and can't wait to see the progress!

My friend in Colorado emailed me manuals for this truck so I can start looking them over figuring out what needs to be done. The hole in the rear bumper is for a propeller shaft off the PTO that runs a winch. These truck also had the option of a hydraulic winch up front from the factory.

I have officially named this Project Ugly Duckling. I've created an album on Photobucket with that name where I'll be uploading pictures as I go through the project. I hope the Ugly Duckling will be a swan someday.

The friend who is giving me Ugly Duckling had to fly out for a funeral so I won't be getting her until sometime next week. I'm really eager to get to work. I feel like I'm wasting a whole lot of beautiful summer weather.

Any updates? I'm dying to see that baby standing up on her on her own 4 wheels!

Nothing new yet. Going to have the truck delivered this week then I'll get more pictures and start the disassembly and organization of parts.
