Why in the hell do the bulb holders in my rear bumper keep going bad?
Seriously, once a year I am replacing either the left or the right one.
I use bulb grease, the seals are good but they always corrode and then the turn signals dont work.
I have gotten to where I order these bulb holders by the pair instead of one at a time to save on shipping and then I keep a spare in the truck.
The dealer wants $5 each, not bad.
Atlantic British wants $4.95.
Rovahfarm is $3.95.
Thats where I ordered the last set so I ordered 2 more just now.
Maybe once I have mudflaps again this wont happen?
Mmmhmm. How many other cars have you seen where the rear light sockets are directly exposed to anything the rear tires can kick up? How many vehicles have you seen there the rear light sockets can be accessed without opening or removing anything, for that matter? I'm sure it wouldn't take much to build some kind of deflector/enclosure for the rear bumper lights.
I think you need to get on that, then post the blueprints on this forum to share for others to gain in your knowledge!

That is actually a pretty good idea.
I just might undertake that this spring when I make my mudflaps.
I might beable to use left over mud flap to make something to deflect the water/salt/grim.
I had used RTV to seal the bulb holder from the elements completely but that did work either.

Further proof that you need to design a bumper light deflector, then post the blueprints, and materials needed in a nice PDF file for the rest of us! (not that I've ever had a problem with those bulbs)
