Default D1 Motor Swap to Chevy 327 0r 350

I'm probably going to get slammed for this but I'm seriously considering swapping out the factory 3.9L with a Chevrolet motor (GM made a few Rover motors correct?)....only because I already have them and most of the parts. I've got a 327, 350, and a 400...along with a variety of trannys. I found this video on one with suppossedly a 350 but with no info:

Does anyone know of any D1's that have tried this? Looking to see what is all involved. Thanks!

I have thought of that a few times as well. I saw a range rover classic with a 350 on ebay awhile back. I'd go for it, sounds like a good idea to me.

As long a the transfer case and axles can handle the extra power and torque I'd say go for it. Take plenty of pictures too.

Sounds like a whole drive train swap.

I think you would be better off dropping in a diesel. From what I understand it is a very easy swap, especially is you use a Rover diesel.

Good info..thanks!

If I do this..it will be a bit down the road. I know the Disco's motor will need to be replaced eventually...I would like to be ready with a swap when it does.

Why not just have it rebuilt when it goes? It would be easier, probally cheaper and you could have it milled, bored and re-sleeved.

Everything you need to do a diesel conversion. I know a guy in TX who did this with great success.
