Needing New Shocks
so i have a 1999 Land Rover Discovery 1 i guess its considered the SD model...im looking for shocks and i don't have TONS of money to spend...my ? is though when looking at these specific shocks you have to chose 1-2'' lift or 5'' lift? i have no clue what that means at all....what is standard?

People will say good standard replacements at low prices include Terrafirma, OME, and Bilstein 4600 (the yellow ones), which start around the $60 range.
But for $130 (Fox 2.0) or $140 (Bilstein 7100), you can get shocks that you can valve for your specific vehicle and driving style, as well as rebuild.
It may not be a matter of whether you have a ton of money to spend, but more about your "investment horizon," or how long you're into the Discovery for. If you think just couple years, then the less expensive ones are a better choice as they'll probably still let you resell without replacing them again. Longer-term, you'll get more benefit from the valvable shocks, and they won't cost more than two sets of the disposables.
