I'm glad I went to 16's
I didn't like my '96 RR tire options for my 18" wheels so this week I bought 16's for it.
As I hoped, it didn't adversely affect my handling (lane changes, etc.)
It did, however, smooth my ride beyond my hopes.
Old - 18"x 8" w/ michelin pilot 255/55/18 in nice shape
New - 16"x 7.5" w/michelin xpc 4x4 255/65/16 like new - slightly noisey, but nothing the stereo can't handle

'96 RR 4.0se 170K nice (but now gone)
"97 D1 Se7 130K - nicer -- ford injectors,airtex fuel pump,electric fans,gauges,no front sway,shocks,some bushings,side exh,alt,starter,CKPS,o2's,timing chain,waterpump,many flushes,crankcase cleaning,modified window tracks,cleaned MAF,repacked hubs,freed xfer linkage,rod bearings, cleaned rocker ass'ys, U-joints, Sony sound, etc.
