I have a 2003 Discovery HSE with the Old Man Emu 2" lift installed.
I have just gotten LR Typhoon 16" rims black powder coated. So now I need to choose some good tires.
I drove a Hum#$%er for a week with BF Goodrich T\A's for a rental car and they seemed fine on some crazy roads in New Mexico.
I will be out west in Sedona AZ for the winter, doing some light to med wheeling. Mostly learning how to drive off road.
So these are my first options
-BF Goodrich T\A's
-General Grabbers (These are rated #1 on TireRack.com)
I dont want excessive road noise and I know off road tires tend to wear quickly
What are some other good tires????
I have about $475 to burn

I have driven a couple rigs with the BFG tires and they were really scary in the snow and they hydroplane badly as well. They are not open enough for water to get out.

Go on line to either Discount Tire or the Tire Rack and do some research for a good all around tire. I agree with the last person BFG AT are not worth the money because of how they drive in wet, snow and ice, I also only run BFG MT's on my truck which would be over kill for you.
Find a semi-agressive AT with good open tread and go have fun.

for your goal and price, bridgestone dueler a/t revo2 would be a good choice.

Well after some online research and suggestions from you all.
I am going with the Bridgstone Dueler A/T Revo 2 in size 245/70/16
These seem rank 4th on Tirerack.com and have 16 + LR Discovery driver reviews. So if they like them I probably will too.
Here is a handy website for tire size changes to stay close to 3% of your speedmetor setting. http://www.1010tires.com
Also here is an interesting chart that reviews the top 10 On\Off Road tires by the consumer on, www.tirerack.com The last number is how many total miles have been driven.
