BFG A/T are hard to beat, as for size, see my thread, Disco tyre size guide.

My 4.6 HSE has 16" wheels, I believe off of a Disco. So when I had to buy new tires recently I was looking at the 255/65/16s.

First off, bear in mind that if you don't buy the proper size tire, you will end up with a speedo error, like what I have on my Jeep. So long as this doens't bother you, that's fine.

I don't go for BFGs because they are overpriced and the quality isn't great. On my Jeep, I have Kumho MT 834s. They're an Off Road/Maximum Traction tire, that is mud/snow rated. From the tire rack, my set of 4 cost me about $400. They make them in some 16" sizes. These tires are very quiet, with great traction in all conditions, and they're extremely smooth. Check them out at Tire Rack.

When I bought tires for the Range Rover, the only Off-Road All Terrain tires in the 255/65/16 size available from Tire Rack were the General Grabber AT2s and the Yokohama something or anothers. The Yokos cost more and had bad reviews. The Generals cost less and had great reviews. So, I went for the Generals. I've only had about 1000 miles on them and haven't taken them off-road yet, but they are super quiet, and extremely smooth. They have a tread pattern similar to a BFG All-Terrain T/A KO. My dad has the BFGs on his Chevy truck, and these Generals are by far a superior tire... and had great reviews. Plus they're cheap.

There're some recommendations for you. Good luck!

Go with a 245/75/16 tire size, you won't need to trim anything, looks good and the BFG's really gt the job done.
