Default off road tyres

Been reading about how to inprove grip and confort.

Donīt really need any camel trophy performance just wanted to buy some off road tyres and rims for weekend use ... rough terrain and Mud .. Just to improve on grip.. and smoother ride ( no Highway )

Is this posibble or do I need a Lift and other modifications in suspension or chasis for some really big tires.

Ill keep my 265 55 r 18 for every day Use.

what do I Need to Know to buy the rims .. size and bolt size ( dont really know what to call them )
