Default Winter Tires

Another couple months and I'll be looking for winter tires for the Disco II. I've got the Alloy 18" rims right now but am not attached to 18" though I think I'd prefer it if possible.

Being used to picking out Z-rated tires this is a new experience for me. Has anyone found a tire they really like that works well on snow, ice, and asphalt? I don't mind keeping separate winter/summer rims but if there's an all-round solution that works well I'm also open to that idea.

Suggestions? I'm driving in snowstorms at least every 2 weeks and for 4-11h at a time so good winter traction is my primary concern.

Default RE: Winter Tires

Are you doing much if any 4wheeling?
The speed rating on Disco's is "H". If you are not going off road, there are some 18" tires out there that would do well for you. Let me know more specifly what you use the truck for. Yes 16" offers you alot lot more selection in treads, styles of tires and better ride then 18"s do.

Default RE: Winter Tires

As of yet no real 'off road' mostly old logging roads, crossing washed out sections, and unplowed deeply rutted roads in the winter. (Adirondacks mostly) but having the flexibility to do moderate off-road is also good. I don't mind the added cost for 18" since the on-road handling will be better. I don't plan on rock-hopping.
