Thank you! I think the alarm is triggering because I used the emergency key blade. The recovery guide mentions that using the key will trigger the alarm. Hopefully it’s not something else.

No luck using a charger. It stops charging after 2-3 minutes. The battery is showing 1.5-2 volts. Pretty much dead. Not enough power to move the seat and work directly with the battery. I think my only option at this point is to have someone release the parking break and the ECP and tow it. Unfortunately, the service LR uses (called Urgently) just sends whoever is available rather than someone who actually knows how Land Rover vehicles work. We’ll see if the service department from my dealership helps (they are closed on weekends).

What kind of charger are you using? The battery will charge using the underwood terminals. The battery is AGM and you might not get best results unless you're using a suitable charger. The CTEK mentioned above supports AGM and also has a mode to restore a dead battery.

edit. This is the one I use.

I used one I got from Home Depot. It claimed to support AGM batteries. Thanks for the link! I ordered that one. Should be arriving tomorrow.

Just jump start it and allow it to charge itself by driving it.

I can’t jump start it. Once the starter is connected, the alarm gets triggered and I can’t deactivate it.

I think a low battery triggers an alarm too. I had low battery charge before because I didn't drive the defender regularly. It would just be in the garage for months. After jump starting it and starting it, the alarm disappeared after it was fully charged.

We were finally able to jump start it. It got enough energy for me to move it out of the parking. But then the power dies completely. I can’t get the engine to stay on for enough time to charge the battery. We had to lift, use dollies, and release the transmission parking in order to get it on the tow truck. I guess I graduated to LR owner. Fun times.

Glad you were able to get it to the shop. This is a strange issue, so please let us know what it ended up being.

Yes, I am very curious about how to use the emergency key blade (somewhat "normal use") and *then* turn the alarm off. Like you, I'd think that just hitting the "unlock" button on the remote would do so.
