Test drove a 2017 gas HSE last week. Ran it over the scales. Payload was promising with my 500lb family riding along. With my 500lb (roughly) was 5880lbs. Door lable for GVWR:6900lb and max cargo lable 1202lbs. The door label for cargo is about 300lbs less than GVWR allows for this particular car.

Land Rover got rid of the diesel option for its 2021 Discovery models in North America, citing steady decline in interest among its buyers. I'm not very optimistic about the Defender.

The Td6 diesel was made by Ford and I don't believe JLR no longer has a contract with them for those engines. JLR is going to their Ingenium straight-six diesels, which should become available in the US since their emissions should be compliant. Will likely only get the D250 and not the D300 which would suck, but that's how they did it with the previous diesels. (Td6/Sd6).

What's the challenge with bringing both engines here? Cost of certifications or epa standards?

Cost of EPA and CARB certification coupled with perceived demand. The problem with diesel in the US is that the soybean lobby has forced biodiesel into the supply of diesel and so the relative quality of diesel available at the pump is much less than that of what is available in Europe. Earlier docs on the Defender showed US and NA getting the D300 so we shall see; hopefully a potential Biden administration won't change those plans. I will never buy a EV.

As of today, you can build a 2021 Range Rover Sport with the TdV6 Diesel, so I don’t know why when the 2021 builds for the Defender and Discovery are up and running that the Diesel would be an available option.

Hello, I live in Panama and we can order the new 6 cyc. diesels in the D200 250 and D300 twin turbo. Mine is the HSE with 19" wheels as the 18" cannot be fitted over the brake calipers. Arrival in Feb 2021

Iinteresting, I just looked it up and find that interesting. One of the reasons I ordered my MY20 with the Td6 was that I feared a diesel would not be available in MY21 because of California and their CARB. The 2021 builder for the Discovery and Defender aren't yet available in the US but it is for Canada, and no diesel available at all there. You can apparently get the old Td6 in a 2021 RRS or RR, which I believe is telling since I don't believe they would offer both types of diesel. I thought the outgoing Td6 was out of production or at least out of contract with Ford, I wonder if that is just remaining inventory and we'll see what if any diesels are offered in MY22. Mexico has no diesels, either. Still, one could at least drive from Panama and it would be tempting to go down and drive one back, but I'm not sure if you could even register it in the USA. I love my Td6 diesel but wish it were the Sd6. I just put a tuner box on it and it drives so much better and like it should have from the beginning, but I would love to get the new D300 or D350.

Hello,

In Panama there is no D350 available. The D300 that I ordered is from the new series of 6 cyl. D200 250 and 300 Diesel Motors

I have never heard of the D350.

Regards, David
