I am sure you will enjoy your new D300 D5, no doubt. The D350 is a slightly uprated variant of the new Ingenium I6 diesels, with 350hp. It is available on the RR as an available upgrade to the D300. The other cool thing with your new D300 is that it appears it also comes with six-piston Brembo brake calipers. I retrofitted mine with JLR Brembo six-pot calipers from a 2017 RRS and for the money I spent on the vehicle, that's how it should have come from the beginning. With my TDI Tuning tuner box they claim numbers of around 325hp and 696 Nm tq,, which are comparable to where the new D300 numbers are at (300hp and 650 Nm tq.) but I'd love to see what a good tune could do for those motors. To hell with the premise that we'll all be on EV's in ten years that are lucky to get 300 miles of range, with no towing, and then take 4 to 8 hours to recharge. (Not to mention more £20bn plus nuclear power plants required to generate the electricity!)

The 2021 builder for the Discovery and Defender aren't yet available in the US but it is for Canada, and no diesel available at all there. You can apparently get the old Td6 in a 2021 RRS or RR, which I believe is telling since I don't believe they would offer both types of diesel. I thought the outgoing Td6 was out of production or at least out of contract with Ford, I wonder if that is just remaining inventory and we'll see what if any diesels are offered in MY22. Mexico has no diesels, either. Still, one could at least drive from Panama and it would be tempting to go down and drive one back, but I'm not sure if you could even register it in the USA. I love my Td6 diesel but wish it were the Sd6. I just put a tuner box on it and it drives so much better and like it should have from the beginning, but I would love to get the new D300 or D350.
You can build a 2021 defender online. There is no diesel engine option. The salesman I have been working with told me he has heard no plains to introduce a diesel in the usa. He mentioned it was available virtually everywhere else. I am pretty sure that I read the 2021 discovery will no longer have a diesel option so good decision on your part to get a 2020 model,

I was watching this video on youtube that I thought was pretty informative. Its labeled "Why diesel cars are disappearing."
. The jist that I got from it is that in the next 20-30 years all cars will be electric and instead of trying to push diesel as a better option than gasonline/petrol vehicles the manufactures are putting that energy towards creating and marketing electric vehicles instead.

I have an ML350 diesel and I love it. Its not as peppy as the gas counterpart but the fuel economy is incredible. If I could get a defender with a diesel engine I would be a lot happier.

there was a rumor of a D350 headed to the '21 Discovery earlier in the year. I'm wondering if COVID-19 has delayed certification.

there is video of a (new) Defender with twin tail pipes à la UK diesels. it also says prototype on the vehicle so that could be something.
odd that it has MN plates though (nothing against the frozen north, I grew up there. )

I heard that the twin pipes are for an 8 cyl gas or diesel. My Defender is a new 6 cyl D300 HSE X-Dynamic for Panama, which will arrive mid Feb

I am a first time LR owner...
