Interesting Dash Cam Option
I've been very happy with my BlackVue cameras and they have an LTE module to give remote viewing from free (10 min of viewing/day & no gps) to $12/month (unlimited + gps).
Will order that module today but it might be a bit of a PITA because it requires a data sim card and I have one but I'm on Google Fi. Another much simpler option that just jumped out is the new Ring dash cam with LTE. $6/month or $60/year. Adds GPS tracking but does not have impact detection. I'm huge fan of Amazon being able to see and hear everyone throughout my house. I'm sometimes concerned that they are missing out on a big part of my life. I would love to let them listen to me as I drive and track my real time movements. https://ring.com/products/car-cam# I don't like that it has no rear cam. It's also a little less graceful looking. Less expensive and easier though for someone who wants a dash cam with GPS. I'm ordering this for my wife's car and my son's car today. Both are in their database as compatible. Will test on the Defender when it arrives because it says "no information" for all LR's. |
I installed(personally) the blackvue DR 900x 2ch in my Mclaren 720S and my C8. The 720S with back up battery while the C8 with just regular hardwire. The 720S has the LTE and CM100LTE. It works great. Then again my 720S is a garage queen so I have to recharge the dual battery pack frequently even if it stays at home. Both models, you can tap from your workplace wifi too. It is dual channel, hence front and back. the only drawback is it is bulky.

i wouldn't trust ring any further than I can throw it. they have a history of violating privacy and trust, and amazon has stated they want to create a secondary network of devices and then give that data to law enforcement. I'd rather have a self contained camera that I control where the data goes.

Still happy with my Kingslim. Doubles as a front/rear dashcam and "Redneck Clearview". Here's my Link re: the adventure. I've since added a grommet in the back. I may rewire things if I ever get a Plumb D-pillar storage. Right now I only want a right hand one (I have the ladder on the left) and they only sell in pairs. Eventually... (seems I'm always writing that!).
So far, haven't had a need for remote viewing. But if I do, I may look into your cam. |
Ask the question why the OB2 port for plug in??? Maybe it will pull stats like those insurance scams do...... Privacy gone.

Would have to assume that this information would be subpoenaed and used against you if you were ever in a serious accident. It's a little easier to just chuck the BlackVue's SD card out the window. It seems that you might be able to use a USB-C to power it up, but it would be severely neutered. |
Dash cam
Have you thought of using the factory one I like it and it comes with both front and rear cameras
