Wait until your $80k Nintendo short circuits three weeks into owning it and the dealer tells you to go pound sand.
Look around this site and around the web. The new Defender is riddled with problems. I just don’t get it. I’ve been a LR enthusiast for two decades and seem to be the only one who will come out and say that JLR dropped the ball big time. I’d drive a dated LC any day over a electronic nightmare that’s impossible to modify.

I'm sure I will have issues with the Defender as have others, but I kinda expected that since it is a first year model from JLR and well I have had other JLR products in the past so I am not going into it blind. I take it from your posts you don't let the dealer get away with telling you to pound sand.

The long-ago ordered Defender arrived right before Thanksgiving. We love it. Feels closer to traded-in LR4 than our long-gone (and much loved) ‘95 Defender 90. Drives great and looks better in person than I expected. Not cheap but feels very premium and modern. Not sure I’d own it out of warranty. Third row is tight. Very tight. Teens can’t do it for long. 10 yr old is ok back there. Haven’t been off-road yet but looking forward to some fun trail and mud time.
Purchased a 2021 LC Heritage a couple weeks ago. Always wanted a LC to keep forever but never could see to pull trigger. Heritage seemed cool but no 3rd row in ‘20 trucks. Saw Toyota added optional 3rd row to ‘21 Heritage. Also heard they were likely gone from USA after ‘21 model.
Timing was awful but couldn’t resist. So far, great truck. Tech is laughable but I wouldn’t have any reservations about owning out of warranty...or for 300,000 miles for that matter. 3rd row bigger than Defender but not much better than the LR4 3rd row. Just put winter tires on it and will be taking it soon on a 2500 mile trip to Colorado. Feels like a big comfy lazy truck around town or on the highway. I think perfect road trip vehicle for family of 5 and gear but we’ll find out. No fears of getting stranded or electrical nonsense. WiFi and newer tech would be nice but I’ll take the trade off of amazing build quality.
I feel like if someone asked “which one should I buy?” I could easily steer them to the one that was better suited to that person’s needs, wants, budget, etc, We are lucky to own both and I’m glad I don’t have to choose between them.

Comparing a LR product to a LC is like comparing a trailer house to a brick home.
I have a 2010 LR3 with 135K miles, and a 2010 LC with 136K miles. The LR is a leaking, tired, and oft-broken down piece of junk, worth maybe $4-5K if I’m lucky. It’s in hospice care for cars - trusted for a grocery run and that’s about it.
The LC is probably a $30K unit.
I like LR, but comparing it to a LC is frankly laughable.
If this looks out of style, well I’m sure sorry. Quality never goes out of style with me.

I think the GM/Chevrolet/Cadillac is another choice in this discussion. The new Cadillac escalade is actually a better buy of the two. I got the defender 110X no problem but since I currently are on my 2nd escalade, I can attest they are pretty reliable with the greatest extended warranty. Got the first 2009 escalade hybrid and traded it for the new 2015i escalade platinum with 195k miles on trade in. My 2015i now has 237k miles and going. Haven't got to try out the 2020.5 110X as I have several daily drivers and other occasional drivers. I think the LC and the D2 are just there for their history but others are doing the same thing now.
