Default Is Rear Cooling Assist a necessary option?

My LR4 has fantastic air conditioning, and I know it has a second rear unit. I presume I need to order the rear cooling assist to get the same level of cooling...correct?
Nothing worse than inadequate air conditioning, especially with a panoramic roof. (As in our old Audi Q7)

I didn’t order it. My assumption was that all it did was allow those in the back to have separate control over temp.

I didn't order it either. Adds quite a bit to the sticker and we rarely carry anyone in the rear seat. Even then, the front sends a decent amount of air reward.

Aren’t there still vents in the center console for the rear passengers either way? That was how the dealer explained it to us. The only models they had available to look at had the option on the car.

Now if we need that option to have the vents then I’d probably get it. Otherwise it seems a little expensive for just giving the rear passengers their own temp control.

Depends on your climate... in Houston we went all out on the Ac... new disco has b pillar and roof vents in whatever oltion we chose...

the pano roof has UV and IR (infra red coating) and it works amazingly well, not where you get cooked like old moon roofs... our infant can be in full sun through the windows and happy as can be... then I open the door to get her out and she squints and closes her eyes lol. I also found that if we leave the sun shades open... and park... if the temp goes up in the car it will automatically close them at some point while it's empty and parked... when we restart, it automatically opens them back up.

we have dogs and wanted to make sure they stayed cool when they are in the back. If you are not carrying pets, I would say hard pass

Yeah, I was glad to order the rear A/C because my dogs tend to throw up on rides when it’s too hot. That only needs to happen once to make it well worth the extra cost.

Any confirmation on if the vents are still present without the rear assist package?

Like others, I assumed it was just individual rear temp controls and the vents would still be there. Already placed my order but I am still in the window where I can make changes...for like another week.

Excellent question but I don't know the answer. I do know that on the Discovery 5 there are no cargo area air vents if you don't order the extra rear cooling. One of the many flaws I found with the D5 compared to the LR4.
