Rescue Ongoing After Cargo Ship Laden with Vehicles Catches Fire in Mid-Atlantic.

We've lived with the Golden Ray lying on its side in St. Simons Sound for two years, since Sept. 2019. 4500 SUVs jumbled up in the hold. They finally cut up the last piece and loaded it on a barge and removed it in December. They just got the last of the big floating pieces of equipment gone last week. Best I can tell they are still working on some of the containment netting that was installed around the perimeter of the site. The nearly-800-foot ship was cut into chunks like a sub-sandwich and sold for scrap to a shipyard in Louisiana.
For scale. It towers over 4-story condos, though it's a half-mile farther away.

I think my Defender was delivered on the Felicity Ace last June. One of the Ace's.
It figures the ship would experience an engine fire while carrying Porsches.
When it carried my Land Rover it was becalmed for two weeks in the Atlantic while they tried to sort out the wonky electronics and a Nav system that kept rebooting every time they hit a wave.

The fire is finally slowing down, but it seems like it will be a total loss as of now...

"The giant cargo ship has $334.5 million in burning cars on board, consulting firm Anderson Economic Group (AEG)estimated in a new report. The salvage cost alone is estimated to be$150 million - bringing the total loss for the ship to half a billion dollars, the group estimates."
Aaaaand, it sank...
