Sold My Defender to Carmax
Sold my 2021 Defender 110 to Carmax yesterday. MSRP on the car was $57,000 + but got almost $2,000 off when I purchased back in February of this year. You know we're living in crazy times when Carmax pays you $71,000........almost $14,000 over sticker for a used car with 8,000 miles on it.
Onto the next adventure.......cheers!!!!!
P.S. My account shows my Defender 90 that I still own. The 110 was white with Off-Road Package, Advanced Off-Road Capability Package, Tow Hitch, Front Fog Lamps, Premium LED Headlights with DRL, etc. I use the Defender 90 as my account as the 110 was my wife's. Cheers!!!!

Carmax is paying crazy prices for almost any car right now. Since many of the manufacturer backed leasing companies have essentially black listed Carmax, meaning they no longer allow them to buy out leases as a third party in order to drive lease returns back to their dealer networks, its been increasingly difficult for Carmax to get inventory. As a result, they're way overpaying for almost any good used car right now.

Anyway, my lease was with Chase, who Carmax still works with so the process was seamless.

CarMax has some mad AI and other analytics on both wholesale and retail vehicle prices of almost every make/model/year/region. And they move vehicles FAST. They made possibly 10-20% selling it to you at $57k and they will make another 10-20% buying it from you at $71k. And, if they predict they will make money - they'll flip it a third time.
