Default Thoughts on the white steel wheels ?

What's the forum consensus on the steelies below... When I first saw the defender launch i was basically in love with that look. But now that I have put in my near 70k order that specifically features these, I am a little bit hesitant. Does it cheapen the look of the LR ? Or is it "The way god intended" I am really torn here, I can see both sides of the story. What say you?

I really like them - IMO a 90 with these is the best - the 110 I can go either way with steel or not

I LOVE the look. I think they are a little retro, and totally awesome.

However - here's a story.

When my bride and I got hitched going on 20 years ago, I surprised her with a wedding present. It was a new Electric Blue Mini Cooper S with white roof and wheels.

It was a hoot.

We were young. She was in med school, and had "free time" comparatively.

She used to wash and WAX the wheels often (very often)... it still wasn't enough.

We tried different brake compounds. Nope, no help.

They quickly had brake dust adhered to them, baked on, after not all that long and there was nothing we could really do about it.

My love for Black wheels (on motorcycles and cars) was born.

But MAN they do look good (on other people's rides).

I do love the look.

Maybe the JLR brake compounds aren't as bad?!? Or it won't eat them like the Mini did?!? Who knows.

Never regret that color combo. I don't have it, wish I did, and believe it is the BEST combo out with the Def2's.

Love my hibachi (spelling intended) silver, but would have gone that route if I had picked a P300 base. I'm "tempted" to order another just to go to the P300 color, wheels, and a few other options but am waiting until JLR quits screwing over everyone before placing my 2d order. About that time, I'll have enough miles on mine that it'll be time for an upgrade.

Nice choice, imho.

Go for it!

If you don't love them, list them for sale here and they'll go in a day.

Better yet, DM me and I'll buy them before you list.

You gotta make your own decision on what you think looks best but I have not regretted the white steelies one bit either aesthetically or functionally. In terms of looking cheap - my *opinion* is that all of the 19" wheels (6009 and 6010) look cheap as hell. The 5094 in 18" look quite good and would have been my second choice to the 5093 (white steel). The 20" and above I would only entertain 5094 and 5095 style. The 6011 might be the worst/cheapest looking wheel of them all. Again, this is just opinion.

I think the fact that you can get a $70k vehicle with steelies is part of what makes them so appealing. Dooo it.

6010s in black would be my other choice. Interesting... I found them to be quite good looking. Anything larger than 19" seems out of place.

I think it just depends on use. If I was using this car for only street driving I would probably have gone with black 19s but since I will be using it offroad a lot I went steel and love them. Hit a curb the other day and chipped the outside.... can just sand it and paint it white and its back to looking new😝

Its what a Defender was made to look like..............fancy Range Rover Sport or Land Rover wheels look, imho, silly on a Defender. White or black steelies should be an available option on all trim levels of Deenders. Anyway, here's mine!!!!!!!
