Default Total NOOB Question

With the LR Expedition Roof Rack, does anyone know who manufactures it? I am looking to mount several overland items to the top and it has the rubber channel, however usually items slide on the end to get there and this surrounds completely - anyone know how to get items anchored to the track?

The cross bars seem to be made by Thule, so accessories that fit in Thule's wider aero bar rails will fit. It's kinda annoying and frustrating to find hardware that fits.

As far as how you get things into the anchor slots - there is a wider opening at the ends of the rails, so you can drop the anchor into the hole and then slide it sideways.

@Shodan01 are you talking about the $1850 rack or the $320 crossbars?

i think the cross bars are made by Thule, but the expedition rack is made by LR? Am I wrong here?

While the expedition rack is LR branded, the cross members in the rack are very obviously built by Thule - the dimensions are basically the same as a Thule aero bar. This is most likely a case where LR has contracted Thule to do their manufacturing.

Talking about the expedition rack (1800.00) - the thule and rhino rack accessories mostly mount. I am trying to retro fit a bat-wing for shade on the edge, but the 3" lip on the rack is making it difficult.

I find it a bit curious that neither Thule or Yakima have designed a rack system for the Defender. I do not want the OEM rack, I for sure don't want something on there full time. I need Thule crossbars for the two, Thule Hulivators we have to haul our kayaks around. They require a bit of overhang so the kayak racks work.

I think the same rack system works with just a change to the Podium feet from Thule.

Frontrunner is making a rack for the defender. That is the one I am buying when it becomes available. I think it looks better,IMOP, and they already have a light set up for it too.

Have you seen pictures? Did they announce pricing yet?
