There is actually an option to enable this in the cars CCF files I believe, not sure why JLR decided to leave it turned off... anyone that does those feature activations (adaptive cruise, etc..) can also flick this on, not really a DIY thing just yet cause of the tools needed, mainly the pathfinder subscription. Simon over at powerfuluk hinted that it can be done with a simple $20 ODB2 to Ethernet adapter with the right software, but he never did a follow up with any details. If anyone can figure out what software he used there, I'd be willing to spend some time digging into it and put some instructions together.

oh I know, it was heartbreaking for me to know that it is there in the software but I’m just locked out. I am curious to hear more real world pros and cons long term of unlocking these features because it is super tempting.

I know right, the main reason I'm not willing to pay anyone to do it is that if the dealer needs to re-flash/replace the control module it can blow away the CCF file changes that you paid some dodgy guy $1000+ for. Or worse yet if the dealer notices and decides they can get away with not fixing a warranty issue because of it, but I think that's pretty unlikely. If I could do it myself, well you could revert it before any warranty work, or re-apply it if it gets overwritten.

I don't think there are any negative long term effects on the car itself at all. Just the potential for it to be overwritten.

Thank you Iceman!!

I knew about global open.
But close from keyless button I did not and I think it is more useful.
On mine it closes all when button is held from unlocked.
Windows stop when button is released, and unfortunately will not start up again without unlocking, pause for at least 5 seconds, lock and hold again.

no worries buddy, yeah it's a pretty dumb implementation, but at least it works for when you get out and see a window left open!
