Georgia Traverse In March?
Hey All
Thinking of hitting this in later March or early April. Thinking of a 3-4 day trip. Any interest in joining? https://www.georgiaoverland.com/georgiatraverse.html |
I’m going to do it but it’s going to be later in the year I think
|
I may be hitting it around 4th of July with 1-3 extra trucks with me. Anyone want to join I can provide updates closer.

Is this something that can be accomplished with a stock 2020 Discovery Sport SE? About how long does it take to complete? Are lodging/food establishments readily available along the way? I see some on the map page but can't tell how far apart they are in real time. My wife and I like to explore unknown areas, but she doesn't want to get her baby scratched up. Dirt roads are ok, rock climbing or creating our own path aren't really something she wants to do.

Primitive camping along the way. For the most part you can avoid scratches but is still likely due to branches. No major 4 wheeling involved as most of it is forest service road (gravel). About 200 miles if you start in Georgia but there are multiple opportunities to leave the trail and head in to town for refueling or food.

I asked about time frame because 200 miles on the highway is 4 hours or so, on dirt roads probably a bit longer. :-)
Did you do any of the sections with water crossing or water fording? |
|
Never would have caught that, you should add that write up to the events section
|
Ahh ok. Wasn’t sure where to put that. Thanks.
