Default Wheeling in Ohio

Went to Tar Hallow state camp ground for three days of wheeling with the Ohio facebook LR group. Did this last fall and it was a blast this time, too. Not as much drama, but good wheeling and plenty of washout (they'd received a ton of rain the day before outing) and water crossing.

First one there on Thursday.

Back home.

Hope to post more exciting photos from the trip.

Brian.

Casualties over the three day weekend...two alternators, one A/C compressor and belt and one engine lost oil pressure (probably toast). The heat really took it's toll on things. Even though it was nearly 100 degrees...I ran with the heat on the entire time (passenger side) and changed my oil prior to leaving home (even though it had about 500 miles on it).

Two things I took away from this weekend...

Need to get traction control working (though I have CDL and that is huge).

Need to put electric fan back on (removed with A/C system) and wire a switch on the dash.

Well that is a rough weekend for some,

Belts fail - spare is easy I keep one in my Disco - although I wonder if there is a different belt if you have no AC compressor

100 Deg and no AC that is just a lot of sweating

Alternators are a pain - they fail but are very expensive to carry around as a just in case spare. But I am thinking I might just see if I can source a used one cheap.

Oil pressure - that can be a toast engine - depends on how soon it was noticed but still very bad luck.

Traction control is a great help even with the CDL, Mine pops on every now and then when I get in steep slippery stuff even in 4 Hi. It is not perfect but it is a nice boost ,hi-centered on ice between two ruts it does not help 1 little bit .

The AC electric fan is nice, my temps generally run too low to turn it on. But it is nice to know it is there.

Truthfully, wasn't there for this shot. I'd just left this group to follow a rover back to camp that had lost it's A/C compressor bearing. I do know these were the "young-guns" of the group, so they were probably checking out engine mods...whereas...us older rover guys just enjoy a cigar at breaks like this...lol.
