Vermont Over Land Rover Memorial Day weekend

The event is being put on by Land Rover legend and all around cool dude Peter Voler. I have no doubts it will be every bit as fantastic as the Vermont Overland Trophy has been in the past.

"In the fine tradition of Winter Romp, Guy Fawkes, BTN, OVLR Birthday Party, Pierre Gauthier and other classic northeast Land Rover gatherings, Vermont Over-Land Rover is a weekend of fun-filled, dyed-in-the-wool rover frolicking. Designed as a local community vintage 4x4 gathering within a classic Land Rover rally, this casual, unstructured event will be the perfect kickoff to the summer off-road season. No registration fee, but we would like everyone to make a donation to the Reading PTO"

Here is the link, check it out there are a few slots left. As always flag me down at the event for your cool landroverforums.com decal!

First half of the journey is over, and I've linked up with my friends for the final leg into Vermont.

So as usual, cell service was almost non-existent of course. First things first we got Peter reunited with his beloved Bumble (RRC on the trailer). Then we set off to find a place to set up camp. Once we were set up, we relaxed catching up with friends and enjoying the gorgeous weather up in Vermont.

The rest of the team showed up late friday night so stories were swapped and beers drank well into the night. Others went out on the night trail ride and had a blast.

The next days groups were divided in green lanes, intermediate, heavy and extreme and folks headed out to enjoy a long day on the trails. A local farm came out and was putting on farm to table breakfast sandwiches and a another vendor was making up the coffee. After a day on the trails there was live music at the main tent, and a mobile brick oven pizza company came out with made to order fresh pizza. Another great night of story telling and some repairs being carried out to be ready for Sunday.

We joined up with the group heading out to the abandoned copper mine and enjoyed a fairly long trail ride filled with fun and amazing views. Than finished it off with a good local burger joint, (awesome root beer for those that are into that like me) and maple cremies for dessert.

Than it was back to camp to relax and eat second dinner of lobsta and chicken with some friends before calling it a night.

The last day was simply packing up, and rolling back to Buffalo to pick up my LR3 from Lucky8. I had something go really wrong in the rear suspension on the way. They were awesome and managed to get all the problems fixed over the holiday weekend so I would be able to head home on Monday. So a huge thank you shout out to Tough Guy Wheelman aka Mike over at Lucky8, who gave up his time off to fix my truck.

Just goes to prove what the Rover community is all about in the end. Already looking forward to the next trip and seeing all my friends again.

Vermont is a very cool place. The Fall and Winter there are fantastic. Looks like a pretty good turnout

The G4 (orange Dll in picture) is one of local rover club guys, John Burt.

Looks like a great turn out and thank you for sharing. What went south on your suspension? Hope it was nothing expensive. Bummer to drive that far and not be able to enjoy your own rig. Luckily, you have friends to help you out.

Brian.
