Added some clamp-on axle guards.

Eventually, plan on welding additional steel along bottom edge and along top to bolt to axle housing.

Started working on rock sliders.

Took measurements for the inner channel portion that will eventually bolt to door frame. Thought about going directly to the frame, but you'd lose ground clearance with supports that reach under the door framework.

Hopefully, I'll have them done before the snow flies.

Made up the inner channel of the rock sliders. The lower piece is the wear-guard from our obsolete snowblowers at work, so it's some decent thickness and hardened. The up-rights, inner and outer, are 1/8 steel.

Made some measuements and marked locations for attaching to outer portion. Will add about a 1/2 spacer between inner and outer pieces.

I'll do some welding tomorrow, and hopefully paint, and install completely this weekend.

Sharpen up the drill bits baby...need a few holes punched through.

Welded the mounting channels to the brush guards.

Everything slipped together and lined up as planned, even I was surprised.

Look...no hands (or jack stands holding them up).

Pretty pleased with appearance, especially...considering the investment.

Next up, drilling, undercoating and painting.

Rock sliders are painted, a day or so of drying...and on they go for good.

Total investment...$8.00 (can of black primer and black paint), all steel was acquired over the years.

Had another piece of steel leaning in the corner of the garage, original thought it would make a nice rear winch plate...but, its turning into a small skid plate for the front.

Rock sliders on.

Pleased with results.

Worked on skid plate, drilled brackets and skid plate. Mounted up to torsion bar bracket (two 3/8's bolts) maybe not the "hardest-core" place to mount it...but it's good enough for this rig. Used the exisiting captured bolt hole and added another bolt to the torsion bar mounting bracket. Used a 3/8's and 1/2's bolt of the skid plate brackets. I'll do a little grinding and painting on the end brackets, to clean up the appearance (granted, when you look at the rest of the rig...my mind says "why bother"...lol).

Have a steel hawse fairlead coming, can't wait to gain a little ground clearance from removing the roller style.

Yes, I bent the winch plate the other day (being an idoit and all)...so that needs to be addressed. Wanted to pull the top of brush guard forward a little and thought I'd just use the winch to do that...wrong...guess I made the brush guard stouter than I thought...lol. Didn't have a ****** block to do it "correctly", but one is on the way.

Some outdoor pictures of the beast...and her new rock sliders.

Skid plate.

Ordered a tablet holder, mounted it to the roof (the beauty of not having a headliner). Would have taken a picture of the tablet in the mount, but the tablet is what I take pictures with...so, you'll have to envision it...it was awesome though...lol.

It's out of the way nicely and doesn't obstruct my view. Been downloading ORV maps and forest service road maps. I'm old-school, so paper maps will be available.

Still waiting for the changing cord and cigarette lighter terminal outlet.

Roller...

Hawse...

Removed rear wiper and will remove motor to install on my wife's 03.

Got Victoria muddy yesterday, we'd gotten a fair amount of rain...so her and l went looking for fun. Found an old two-track following electrical poles into a swampy area. Looked pretty wicked...and thoughts of letting it go until another rig was along crossed my mind...but if things went south...I'd finally get a chance to use the winch. She really handled things in stride. A couple times I even came to a complete stop in the deepest mud hole, hoping she'd struggle to get out...but she motored out with ease.

It's just about time to really test her.

Finished making up charging harness for tablet. Like the location, it does not obstruct view in any way. I'm 6'4" and it is above my line of sight. Did a quick dash around the back forty...and it held tight.

Is this what folks are talking about when they mention zombie apocalypse? This deer was walking in front of me while driving through the field and I hit it inadvertantly...came right through the side window. I'm not gonna lie...it scared the crap out of me.

And folks talk about deer being so cute and all...lol.
