Well she was stripped down inspected, cleaned, and re-assembled. FlowKooler water pump, HG's, upper radiator hose/lower radiator hose, rod bearings, along with main bearings.

The removal of the oil pan was the hardest part! Dunno who was in their before but they should have used that RTV on the Space Shuttle.

My great friend & I tore it down over the weekend, cleaned it up under the hood, and got it all fixed up for SCARR.

Well after SCARR I learned the iKamper Skycamper 3.0 was to much for my needs. So I took it off (it's for sale) and I replaced it with an OVS Mamba. I also finally had time to install the sawtooth wheels I've had in storage for a good while now. Usually I am not a black wheel guy, but on the XD I think they look really sharp.

Up next I'm going to get an adjustable panhard rod, and do some other minor stuff, but thats the lastest with XD 2.0. Had a blast out at SCARR & already looking forward to the HCRR event in October.

Excellent road trip review. Congrats on the new rover.

Glad you had a good trip! did you find the ikamper to just be too big? It is ginormous, weight isn't terrible for what it is fortunately but if you can go smaller and lighter then love the move.

Well it was like sleeping in a luxury suite for sure, but yes it was to much for my needs. I'm short so folding it back up was a little fun, but mainly it was the soft shell as I'll call it since a single tiny branch on the park road tried to destroy it. After that I wanted an aluminum top shell RTT.

The OVS Mamba is exactly what I needed for my setup. It has rails along the side & under it so I can mount anything I need to it. It also came with a rack to mount stuff on top like a set of trax or a solar panel which is cool (not using the rack currently). Since it opens from the rear vs the side I can just climb on my rear bumper release it, reach inside grab the ladder and then mount it to the passenger side.

The iKamper on the back of say a Tacoma would be epic as it wouldn't sit up as tall.

SCARR was a lot of fun. I helped my friends fix a built 87 RRC that kept dying out on the trail. Found main ground to frame disconnected, and finally tracked down the no start for 10min down to an overheating coil due to the ground issue (coil has a ground strap as well). RRC was using it, the starter ground and the ebrake cable as a main ground... Replaced coil and it was good to go after that. Weather for the event was beautiful & I rode with Justin from Lucky8 in the D90. Great time & looking forward to more adventures this year!!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend

It's been a little while since I updated this thread. About 3 weeks ago I ordered a full set of Radius & Trailing Arms with Superpro bushings from Adrenalin4x4 and the quality is top notch. I got them extremely fast (once shipped via DHL they arrived in 4 days). Installation was a breeze and I got them installed last weekend. I really liked the quality of the welds and the Superpro bushings.

This weekend I've just been kinda tinkering about. I did a brake pad job on all 4 corners using the TerraFirma Ceramic brake pads (They remind me of Brembo Ceramic brake pads).

Stories like this are a good part of the reason why I’ve become so addicted to the Disco community and Discos in general. I’ve done a fly and drive for all but one of my D2s, and every one has been a really fun mini adventure. I’ve done fly and drives for other cars and motorcycles as well, and it blows away taking delivery of a new car any day as you get to savor the “new” feeling so much longer (depending on how long the drive is).

This makes me homesick quite a bit, but thank you for letting me live vicariously through you. Cross your fingers for me next week as we’ll see if the Alveston starts and functions after sitting in a barn for a year…
