Operation Magpie.

Got everything put back together today.. Never done the liquid gasket crap before, but i think it'll work out fine. Anything is better than scraping off the "OEM" gasket anyways
Here's a pic of the "new" water pump, when i took it off initially the goop was.. well goopey. Its kinda dried up now but it's caked on there fairly good.
Did some trimming of the upper fan shroud to make everything fit -- still gotta work on the hose between the bleeder and the tstat, its just a hair to long imo.
Speaking of something that is completely related to nothing, my friend suggested that i use a heavy duty type coolant flush to try and get more crap out of all the passages.. Any ideas on what i can use? Just the normal "flush" crap from Prestone etc?

Well, vinegear is in along with distilled water. Started MagPie up, proceeded to get hot again so turned it off. No worries because of air bubbles etc. Came back a few hours later and the expansion tank was half empty so topped off with distilled water. Haven’t had a chance to start again.. Inlaws are in town so hoping to just let things soak for a few days etc.
Keeping fingers crossed that a whole huge chunk of goop will break free and things will be good
Thanks for the words of encouragement good sirs!

When it gets hot is it coming out of the overflow/cap on the reservoir? What does a temp gun show temp wise at the intake right where the temp sensor is? If you aren't reading any overheating temps at the intake right where the sensor is I'd say slap in the old sensor.
Also since you have the in-line mod I'd twist that sucker open, and remove the thermostat & run it without a thermostat and see what it does.

I don't let things get hot enough for the coolant to get pushed out but it certainly has before -- I always shut things down around 215ish. Started up MagPie and ran until 215 -- The IR gun said that the lower IM and the brass of the sensor was 130-140ish while UG was reading 215
Rest of the coolant pipes were cooler, the lower rad hose being upper 80's.
Gonna probably order another sensor since i broke the original one while doing the HG -- This time it'll be from AB i think.
Getting cloooooooose.... i hope

Yeah those temp readings aren’t adding up. If the temp gun is reading that low & the temp sensor is reporting something that far off one of em is not accurate.
I just drove the 500.00 wonder nearly 25 miles today with the AC on full blast, 195F thermostat, pure water, and my scangauge II showed 188-193F while going 70. At idle my temp gun showed 193-200F at the IM & temp sensor while the scanguage II showed 188-197F. So my comparisons were much closer.
In your case the efan coming on won’t tell you that the engine has really reached 207-211F. I’ve seen D2’s run all the way up to 229F without blowing a drop of coolant out of the reservoir cap or nipple.
When the 500.00 wonder was pissing out the cap it started at 193F & of coarse the temp went up as more water was pushed out. I let it cool down topped it off, swapped the cap & it’s never pissed out more than a drop or two with the reservoir well above the fill line.
