Satan's Disco

Figured I would start a build thread in here....
After some months of shopping saving, Stalking etc I found a black 1996 Discovery 1 SE7 5 speed late last year.
As a noob to the LR world I thought I was getting a great deal! Little did I know
What I got was a 5 speed, with 124K on the clock, a rusty old brush guard, two off center holes in the hood, and a lovely e-fan set up.
The interior was (is) rough, the brush guard and hood had seen better days. The rear spigot was damaged quite badly and the rear driveshaft had been through the wars.

He didn't mention all the TLC the 10 previous owners gave it lol.

Good idea on making a build thread Chris! That D1 has come a long way since the first time I saw it

Pt 2:
Repairs and servicing begins...
First order of business was to get the seat moving so I could drive without a pillow behind my back, being a stick shift and my short butt only being 5'6 this was necessary.
Pulled out the switch, dismantled and cleaned all the contacts.. no joy. At that point I turned to a BFH and gave the motor a smack - Success!

Next up was some interior cleaning, the vehicle had spent some time at the beach previous to me owning it and it was covered in crud. Nothing some degreaser, a magic eraser, and some sweat didnt solve.

With the interior somewhat cleaner than it was I turned to the outside, the grille was busted, the lights were not aligned etc... Got a new junkyard grille, some lights and tabs to refresh her

It has been a blast so far, little frustrating at times, but satisfying when it gets fixed

Wouldn't be where it is without your help and wisdom! :disco:

Nice job getting it cleaned up! A word to the wise though, if you ever hit something with that brush bar it will break everything you just replaced and then some. They are known for causing more damage than they prevent.

He’s rolling along these days with a TJM front bumper.

I told him the very first time I saw that D1 the exact same thing about the OEM brush guard & that it had to go!

Looks like a funny project starter. Congrats and good luck.

Brian.
