Which shop are you taking the heads to? I called JC4x4 and they use Colorado Custom Cyl heads which is right down the street -- thats where i had my heads done. Old guy who smokes but probably has done a few thousands rover heads at this point. I think i paid around $600 for a full clean / new valve guides. Which HG kit did you end up purchasing?
im gonna use Colorado custom cyl heads but I was quoted $149 for dip, surface and valve guides. I got the kit from lucky8!

Weird.

Mine were:

Hot tanked
Valve Job
Surface Heads
Install replacement guides
Disassemble / assemble

~$450

Depending on how many miles you have on your truck, the valves might need to be looked at etc hence the difference in price?

hopefully not! I’m broke after that bumper 😉 all jokes aside my buddies has had a dozen heads done there, so hopefully I get the cheaper price haha

I'm surprised at the amount of carbon left on the valves. Personally, l'd not be happy about that. But, it is easily remedy...just hit them with a wire wheel. Good luck, with the rest of the install.

So, they didn’t do valve guides? They would have cleaned the valves if they were removed from the head..?
