So it's official, I'm leaving the Range Rover Classic Club and joined the 110 club :D
I flew out to Maryland and picked up a 83 110 5 door station wagon off of Rugbier. She has a 3.5 carbed V8 4 speed manual wrapped in Trident Green goodness. After we (read Gustavo, if you can't figure out which switch to use ask him he knows now) got the headlight switch mystery solved I got on the road to head home to Chicago with one small detour to Rovers on the Rocks 4. I had a great time meeting folks, I've chatted with here on the forums for years. Sunday morning with my first mod done (winch bumper) I hit the road to home. 14 long hours later, she's in my drive and work begins. Thanks to Gustavo for a great deal on a solid starter 110 and all the hospitality. Thanks to Justin (lucky8llc.com) and Trevor (roverlabs) for putting on a great event. Also thanks to Justin for bringing the bumper with him to save me the cost of shipping. Of course here are the pics: Attachment 42191 Attachment 42192 Attachment 42193 New bumper and winch going in: Attachment 42194 Attachment 42195 A couple new stickers: Attachment 42196 New badge I have to decide where to mount: Attachment 42198 |
Might fine. Might need an older manual - see http://smithies.co.nz/land_rover/

Thanks, that is one good link.

Was this an individual sale, or does this guy import these things for resale? I'm really tempted to get one, but most of them seem to be going for almost NAS prices. A 110 from the 80's is not worth $20,000 to me. :)
I've heard that the bulkhead on the 1983's supports LHD and RHD, so yours would be easy to convert to LHD if you wanted to. Some of the later 90 and 110 the bulkhead was different. |
This was an individual sale, but if you look around on The Defender Source - Land Rover Defender Community and look for 130tdi (user name) he does it for a living and has a great rep.
I like the RHD, I'm leaving that be lol. The looks are classic when my 6 year old daughter is riding in the passenger seat where people expect to see the driver :D |
Nice find! I love the 110's!
Need to "Wheeler Dealer" the mods into it!...lol |
Slowly the mods are already happening. I added carpet to the loadspace, and started installing a stereo. I have the winch in place need to wire that in and of course the new TerraFirma blade winch bumper is already installed.

I had lost a cylinder on the 110 shortly after thanksgiving. Heads were shot and a piston wasn't in great shape so I was on the hunt for the motor swap.
At first I was going to use the heart from my first Range Rover Classic that had turned into a epic rot box. In the end it had to many things going against it. So I picked up a warmed up 3.9 crane 230 cam, along with the holley 4 barrel and edelbrock performer rpm intake and long tube headmen headers. It should help wake up the 110 a bit at the stop lights. I'm in the process of getting it in now. Attachment 39684 Attachment 39685 Attachment 39686 |
