Well today I built my own engine harness. Heat shrinked all the connections and put in new wire.
She's alive and running but it looks like the alternator was a casualty along with the wiring. Doesn't surprise me since the power lead coming off of it was one of the shorted out fried wires. Luckily I think I have a couple of spare alternators on the shelf in the garage. If not there is always Paul Grant for a good used one. |
I had a funeral to go to yesterday so I didn't get any work done on the 110.
Today however I swapped out the alternator, for one that I'm surprised it worked. I dropped it and busted all the plastic cover crap on the back to hell. So now it's running and charging like it's supposed to. Drove it about 20 miles today, and aside from needing an alignment and it drifting about a bit it seems great. The power increase from the 3.5 to the 3.9 with a cam is amazing. She has so much power now starting around 2500ish rpm. I can actually out run a smart car now. I spent the rest of the afternoon putting the grill, light surrounds, bumper, winch and brush guard back on. I replaced a few burned out bulbs and all seems well. I'm going to try and put a few more miles on it then drive it to work on thursday. Only real problem I'm noticing so far is she is only warming up to about 1/4 on the gauge. Some checks with the infared thermometer seem to agree with that. I might need to get a grill muff thing for it to restrict flow so I can get the engine fully warmed up and the heater going full bore. She definitely runs cooler now than she did before all the work. |

Well the tach is in and the aux lights are wired in. The rpm she turns at highway speed is amazing. 3000 rpm at 55 mph. It is running great and I drove her to and from work today. Life is good!

Picked up a radiator muff thing, it helps a lot now I just need to hide that stupid rovers north logo on it. I can't complain it was free :D
The bad part is I didn't realize the exhaust was leaking like it was and the fumes damn near killed me. I learned something in my carbonmonoxide induced haze, don't use the felpro composite gaskets. Use the metal ones they are much better. Replaced those and she is quite and not killing me anymore. I'm getting my hands on a set of Land Rover factory HD springs and I figured what better to put with springs than some new TerraFirma All-Terrian Shocks from Lucky8llc. So I got those ordered today with a bunch of other misc parts. I'm loving driving this daily. Need to get the alignment done and toss the new tires on. |

Much improved look. Gaurddogs?

I'm not sure about the rims, I kinda dug the steel wheels. I love the look of tires with tread on them though :D
They are TreadWright Guard Dog MT's with kedge grip. They are good tires a bit noisy though, but that's to be expected with MT's. Plus they look pretty evil on the 110 :D |

Got a couple of packages from Justin at Lucky8 today, gotta love how they have gone green.
While you put the new parts on, you can have a snack with the packing material :D Attachment 39148 |
