Diff selector diy

Hi, I’m having some issues adjusting my diff selector, I recently replaced my clutch fork and wasn’t been able to disengage the diff lock after I got the truck from the shop. I took it apart and the stick selector hits the side wall before it can disconnect for some reason. I was able to adjust that and now its disconnected but started getting the opposite, it hits the side before it engages the diff lock. High and low selector works just fines there’s just a lot of play on the one that moves left and right. I was wondering if I could use a type of strap that would come out between the tunnel and floor and connect to the selector inside and I could just pull it to engage the diff lock and use the regular stick selector to disconnect it. Sounds like a good idea in my head but not sure if I’m missing something. Anyone using a similar set up? Thanks!

Do you have a LR Defender workshop manual? It explains adjustment process. I'm assuming they pulled the trans, not engine, while doing clutch fork. If so, maybe they bent linkage while removing/installing?

hi, no I don’t have the manual. I did a lot of research online and followed the instructions but there was no way to get rid of all the play in the selector.

im pretty sure that’s what happened, when I got the truck back it was stuck in diff lock. I was able to disengage it but there’s too much play to get it to engage and disengage properly. I was think I could connect something to that connector that would come thru the tunnel. I could pull that to engage and disengage it with the regular selector.

I heard about some people that did like a window in the tunnel that they could open and close to disengage the diff when the selector doesn’t work
