Fitting speaker into front seat box of 110
 

Hi i am my the mechanic for my wifes TD5 110 and am in the process of adding sounds to our newly "relatively quietened" Defender. I have been looking at placement options for the speakers in the front area and it struck me that i could place them in the front surface of the seat box facing forwards and slightly up.Despite battery location and CPU there is plenty of room in both. Every other option is facing back wards and towards the floor or in the door which i know will get kicked every time i swing in and out. Any thoughts on the suggestion or experience would be gratefully received.

I have fitted a set of speakers to the seatbase. It's (afaik) the best place to get a little bass-volume . this is my setup:

In the front I have a 2-way speaker set; tweeter on the dash:

Even the carkit works up to 100km/h!

Mud UK has several drop in options, and one I believe for the front centre console

Thanks for all the fed back regarding speaker placement, just finished installing the front two in the seat box and the matching rears in boxes either side of rear door. Upon advice i went with two sets of moderate priced 5.25 inch speakers. Gotta be honest im very chuffed with the sound quality. The seat box appears to help accentuate the base sound and they are really neatly stashed and still i have my leg room and functional from vents for summer. Hope to finish installing the rear boxes when the temperature rises to make it bearable here in Canada.
