Gearbox, Transfer Gearbox, F/R Axle, and Steering Swivel Pin Housing OIL.

I would like to put fresh oil in for all these items on a 1995 D90 Manual.
I can not find anywhere the specs on which oils to use.

Can someone please help me?

Also, is there a service manual anyone would recomend that would have these types of answers?

Thanks so much.

RE: Gearbox, Transfer Gearbox, F/R Axle, and Steering Swivel Pin Housing OIL.

Main gearbox: Either ATF Dexron III or MTF94 or equivalent - I'm assuming you have the Rover R380 gearbox on your truck, please check the box before adding oil. If it's not either a LT77 or R380 then get back to me ;)

Transfer box: EP90 or EPx80/90 GL4 - do NOT use GL5

Axles: EP90 or EPx80/90 GL4 or GL5

Steering swivels: EP90 or EPx80/90 GL4 or GL5 is the OM standard, however most find a one shot grease is a better bet. You can buy your one shot or make it my mixing equal volumes of a good quality LM or MS grease with the above oil - warming them up helps to mix them evenly and makes them easier to put in the swivel housing.

Can't help with the service manual, I'm in the UK ;)

RE: Gearbox, Transfer Gearbox, F/R Axle, and Steering Swivel Pin Housing OIL.

LR changed the spec for the R380 in 1998 when the TD5 came out from ATF Dexron III to MTF94 and made the change retrospective for earlier R380 models. If you can get MTF94 then use that, if you find it hard to come by use a good quality Dexron III ATFand halve the recommended replacement interval for it ;)

Cheers,

Adam.

On the swivels you can't beat that One Shot lube, there was a reason why LR switched to it vs gear lube, biggest one no leaks plus running dry internally.
I'll get shot for this, I use 1 1/2 packages of One Shot to each side, haven't had a problem the past 15 plus years. Rather have extra inside than running too low.
Make sure the bearing swivel pin pre loads are correct as well keeping your balls clean (no pun intended). Your seals will like you keeping the ball surfaces smooth and clean.
On the R380 (95 D1) I have been using Honda motorcycles MTF which has extreme gear face protection plus the lubricity properties vs ATF as ATF if its that slippery the AT clutches wouldn't grip. So far so good at 142K miles and i'm not that easy on it with a warmed over 4.6 engine.
BTW, R380 output shaft plus transfer gear, the splines are getting rather sloppy aka shot. Here in the USA 5 spds are rather rare, where can I get hard parts for the R380 vs dealership special order with their off the wall crazy profits? Future project "Rupert" needs some loving......~~=o&o>......
