some question about defender 110
 
hi guys i have a couple of question about the defender 110 1987 with 2500 td engine.

first, i wonder if there is a good web site that i can buy good parts for that model? i wonder to wich engine is bolt on in this model ? i need reliability fuel effiency and lowest maintnance engine as possible wich engine are you reffering to me ?

what about the transmission ? are they reliable ?

i will explain my project: i have a friend that got a 1987 defender 110 2500td ans we want to make the most reliable defander as possible because we are going to do a lot of fishing trip in every condition possible. money is not really a probleme REALIABILITY IS so give me your ideas i am a mechanics and im not affraid to do anything on this deefender.

Best place to go would be defendersource.com to get advice.

Some early 2.5td had issue with weakness in the block I've heard. You'd has to google a bit to find when they improved the block.

The 2.5NA is pretty bullet proof, but has no power. (That's what I've got). I get about 20mpg.

The 200tdi would be mostly bolt in, assuming it came out of a defender. They say it's got plenty of power and gets 25+ mpg.

Depending on the age/serial number of the LT77 5 speed, the 200tdi might eat it up, but you'll probably be ok if you take it easy.
