Default "94 Disco "Hot start" issue

Having trouble starting after the engine is heated up. I have to hold the throttle open while trying to start plus whisper a small prayer to the "Rover Gods" to get it fired back up. I was thinking vapor lock but since a.) its fuel injected, b.) it has a submersed fuel pump and c.) it was only 70 degrees ambient air temp today, I quickly dismissed that thought. Checked diagnostic display and got code 14...so now I'm leaning torwards fuel tempeture sensor. Am I heading in the right direction or do you guys have any other suggestions?

my 95 is doing the same thing. It has a leaky fuel injector, it is on order. As soon as I get it going again I will let you know if it fixed the problem. However, the fuel temp sensor makes sense, so I guess I may have to change that too.

Do you have a multiimeter. To confirm if it is the fuel temp sensor pull the plug off and test the resistance between the two contacts of the sensor. At about 100 *f you should read about 1,100 ohms ... Higher ohms if the fuel rail is cooler than that and lower Ohms if it is any hotter. Let us know how the test goes. Hopefully that is it as that is an easy repair.

The plug to the fuel tempeture sensor was loose(bet that was the problem)...but I tested resistance anyway.
I let the truck warm up to normal operating temp.
Then I checked the temp. on the engine where the sensor threads in(mostly did this to use my fancy temp. probe that came w/my multimeter) it read 140 degrees F. Then I set the multimeter to 20k Ohms and it read .40
Not sure what to make of those results.
The truck did fire right up on second crank while warm. However it did rev-up to 1500 r.p.m.'s and then drop to the point of almost stalling out then back up to about 1200 r.p.m.'s then down to 500 r.p.m.'s before leveling out at its normal idle(700 r.p.m.'s) all of this within a 5 second time frame of start up. It has done this occasionaly on cold start but for some reason I didn't think much of it. Is this normal or is there a problem looming on the horizon.
