97 D1 issues

Hey guys,

It's been awhile since I have been on. I have to be honest gave up on it for awhile, bounced on the idea of selling and trading and tried to no luck. But the other part of me thinks deep down I really don't want to get rid of it. I have visions of wheeling and over landing, etc. I am also in the process of building a expedition trailer. So i have renewed interest. So I got a new battery, fire up, idle was running rough and would die so I adjusted that. So it is idling great ow, sounds good. Here is the issue, when I go to drive it is really putzy. I peg the peddle and nothing but like 5 secs later it sounds like it cleared. There is no power, after about 15 minutes of idling and maybe 2 minutes driving the oil light comes on and the engine dies. Funny thing is it starts right up again and I can drive for 2 or 3 minutes and it dies again.

So where should I go from here? What options there is 208,xxx on the motor. Any suggestions will help, thanks if I need to clarify anything to help you more please let me know. I should also point out I am no master mechanic, but I will do the best I can.

Oil light comes on at like 7 PSI. Should be 40. A mechanical oil gauge test would be a step. But oil pressure that low should be making all kinds of noise. Maybe engine is dying, and that takes oil PSI down.

Would consider buying a can of aerosol MAF cleaner, and cleaning MAF when stone cold.

Would also pull IACV and clean it with carb cleaner.

Thanks for that ill do that and check back.

Well I cleaned the heck out of the IACV and the MAF. And idle (duh) was much better that and I adjusted it a bit to keep it around 1000rpm (is that correct or near to normal?). I had said that after 10-15 minutes of running/idling the check oil light would come on and the engine would die, this problem seems to be solved. When it was driving and I would come to a stop the engine would stay idling and not die or feel like it was going to die.

There is still one issue I want to get to the bottom of. It is when I even slightly depress the pedal it spuders and slowly gets up to speed sounding like it is clearing something out, never really get to full power or peppy feeling. When I peg it once up to around 30mph nothing just more spuder. Listed below are the codes I was getting awhile back. Changed the plugs and wires but nothing else yet. When I get a chance to borrow and OBDII I will check again. My local store makes me pay for it and then return it, which I think is weird.

p1316 - misfire causing excessive emissions
p1187 - HO2s heater short circuit, upstream sensor
p1191 - HO2s heater short circuit, downstream sensor
p0300 - random misfire detected
p0305 - Cylinder 5 misfire
p0303 - Cylinder 3 misfire
p0301 - Cylinder 1 misfire
p1194 - HO2s heater circuit high resistance, downstream sensor
p1313 - misfire likely damage to catalyst Bank A

What else could possibly be the issue and where do you guys think I should go next? What could be the cause of the lack of power? As always guys I appreciate any help in this matter. If I get the pep back in her, I will be so happy!

Help!!!

Champion copper plugs, 8mm plug wires, new O2 sensors, fuel filter, air filter and PVC cleaning. May not cure it all but it'll damn sure help. And it prob needs to be done anyway.

What brand o2 sensors should I use, and is it safe to get the cheaper ones and splice together, seems as if it saves around $60 per sensor?
