97 Disco Radiator Help
I have seen some post on radiators gone bad, I am at a cross roads on what to do with my radiator situation. Unfortunately, I didn't quite get a good idea on what decision to make on whether you should buy a new radiator (On Ebay for about $250) or have the OEM one repaired (Mine is looking like $350 for it being rodded out and flushed) Anyone know if the OEM one getting repaired would be better than buying a new one and replacing myself????
Thanks

Pretty high price for rod out and flush, they do that for $75 near me at the edge of farm country, indy shop that handles trucks, construction, and ag gear. About $235 for an aluminum radiator on ebay. While the copper is better, you most likely are not going to outlast the aluminum one. It is a 97.
I'd say if you can't get a low price on rod out and flush then go with the aluminum one.

And - if you are near the Atlanta area there are large "u-pull-da-partz" salvage yards, where a radiator is about $50. Good practice for removing yours. A note of caution about salvaged radiators (there is a short warranty) - be sure the tranny cooler section and the oil cooler section are not obstructed.

You need to be careful to put distilled water into the rad to avoid putting chemicals into it that is in tap water..
You sure it is plugged up?
Ours never plugged.
I had to solder it with silver solder at the connections for trans and oil cooler.
I would put in a new one if you can.
Get Nissens. Not some junk.

180f or an OE 88c

Have you verified your viscous clutch is good? With the engine warm is should have a fair bit of resistance to turning the fan by hand.
So you got a new HD core for the radiator?
