Aftermarket stereo install
 

Took me fourteen minutes, start to finish. I shot a pic of a clock as I started but as I finished, I got a phone call and my phone battery blinked off, so I did not get the start clock and end clock pics :(

That includes a trip inside to see the speaker wire diagram (pic four)

The longest part was fitting the DIN sleeve in. I didn't finish securing it because I DO have noise, so will get those parts and finish up.

Which radio did you get?

Is there a link to the D1's speakers wire diagram?
My system was hacked with add on's, 1/2 of it was left behind leading to surprises......ugh.

Dual DC535Bi CD receiver at Crutchfield.com this is the head unit. I HAD to have aux input and bluetooth. And I REALLY like the look of the big LCD display.

I did NOT keep steering wheel controls. I'm not sure mine worked anyway. The harness is still there (brown) if I want to try.

I am aware I am going to be 'one of those people' now because I too am going to have to hack the wiring the sh*t to get rid of the noise, but oh well.

I have not replaced my factory stereo and not sure how everything is wired but a good place to start with the noise looking at the grounding, especially when an amp is involved. The culprit is usually (from my experience working on car stereo installations back in the days) ground loops, and in some cases bad grounding (including ground wire of incorrect gauge). Try getting a good ground from stereo AND amp chassis, the shorter and bigger the wire the better. I would even go so far as to create new grounds for you new stereo and the factor amp....isolators can help and sometimes make the noise mostly go away, those serve only to mask the issue....plus fixing ground is cheaper.

My cargo door speakers are also shot, so I can't really fade much back there.

Anyone got ideas for a good ground for the stereo? And for that matter the amp? I am, as I have said, stupid beyond belief. Wire from metal in the box to the chassis... how/where?
