Brake pads and rotor recommendation?
I'm going to do a brake job and was wondering if there's a specific brand to look for when buying parts. EBC is supposed to be good but I've read mixed reviews and some say they don't last long and they're $$$. I used duralast premium on my car and they worked better than OEM but aren't available for the Land Rover. Only the standard brakes are available.
Also are there any seals I'll need? Atlantic British sells a kit with seals so maybe I should get that. |
I've had good experience with Wagner pads and rotors, so that's what I use.
Assuming your hub bearings are in good shape you'll only need the hub seal (RTC3511 is the better seal) and paper gasket for the drive member. If it turns out you need any hub bearings you can get those locally, Timken SET37, SKF BR37 or FAG KIT38 Maybe hub bearing nut lock washers. They can usually be flattened out and reused once or twice, but it's good to have 4 of them on hand. I'd get a couple hub nuts also, in case the previous owner used a chisel on them, which is pretty common. |
Do you think it's worth it to upgrade to Defender 90 brakes?

A while back Carid.com had good prices on Cardone rebuilt calipers, even eating the core charge (which you have to since you can't send in Disco cores) the price was good. So you might want to check there then shop around and compare. |
Cool, I ordered everything to upgrade from Rovahfarm. I also ordered the swivel ball rebuild kit. Thanks for the help!

Any particular part number? I need to order a set. I am still having the intermittent squealing problem at highway speed.

Wagner ThermoQuite: FRONT Organic PD520 >>> OR Semi-Metallic MX520 REAR Semi-Metallic MX518 Go nuts! :D |
Looks like I was wrong, they make ceramic and and two semi-metalic. I think I've been using the thermoquiet. But it may be the quickstop.
Sorry. |
I'm running Centric rotors and centric (mid-grade... the next step was stoptech) with my D90 upgrade. Great so far.
