A/C Compressor
Hey guys so I just got a new A/C Compressor and was wondering about the installation. I took off the low and high pressure lines and disconnected the electrical plug, but how do I remove the belt? It says turn the belt tensioner clockwise but what does it look like? Yes I did RAVE it but the picture isn't so clear. And is there anything else I need for the reinstallation besides the screws and some freon? It was talking about some kind of oil..?

Anybody?

Can you tell me what RAVE it means? I am a newbie.

It'll look like the serp belt tensioner. In fact I believe there's only one tensioner in the system. See below. I believe you can use a breaker bar, can't remember if it's 3/8ths or 1/2.

Sorry, wrong on the breaker bar, was thinking about a chevy tensioner.

And that oil will be needed before you install the new compressor. If new, should have come with some info about how many ounces, which opening to pour it in, how slowly to turn compressor when doing this, etc. A very important step. Since you will be having the closed system "open to air" you will want to be replacing the $20 drier as well. Some compressor warranties depend on installing a new drier at the same time.
|
you will need to vacuum it down as well prior to servicing with R134A. If not the regular air will take up space that refridgerant is suppose to be in.

I see I have given false information on accident, I meant new to me compressor from an auto recycler in my area. It comes with a 30 day warranty and guaranteed to work or your money back. It came off a '95 like mine. And do I find this oil at my local parts store? What about the drier?

And how do I vaccuum the compressor?
