I don't think the separator is supposed to be in the hose, it resides in the opening in the valve cover and the hose plugs in right there I think. Mine was coming apart (hose was dissentigrating on the inside), to get a good fit, I ordered the replacements from AB as well as a new separator.

I was getting repeat P1179's until I ran two bottles of Techtron Fuel Additive thru it. Mine has not repeated since then.

I will be sure to give it a try if all else fails. Did you use one bottle per tank?

Yeah, Advance Auto had it Buy one Get one FREE, so I used two of them within about a month adding when I filled up. The first bottle helped, then after the second bottle, it has not come back yet. Someone else had suggested it and I figured why not. I had used Lucas Additive a few times, but kept getting that code.

I was about to pull the intake plenum and give everything a thorough cleaning along with throttle body and IAC but i went ahead and added the Techtron and so far the P1179 has not repeated. Running with no codes but it is still a little rough when cold, like IAC still needs attention, just have not felt like tearing into it right now. It smooths out pretty quickly so I am keeping my finger crossed.

I think I'll give it a try now. It came back again after a new breather line and cleaned oil separator.

I recall, those hoses gave me fits. The original ones were so old they were crumbling internally. I replaced them with what I had laying around on my workbench, not realizing they need a real snug fit. If you look carefully, that one is a different diamenter on each end, as such standard hose no good. AB has the correct hoses for both sides at a good price. I got mine from them and that helped. But P1179 may have several contributors, so it's working your way thru it. Mine has not repeated since the Techtron, prior to that, It had become a standard feature whenever it chose to appear. Like a Phantom.

My lower radiator hose looks like original and I saw AB had their hose sets on special for 99 Bucks. If we all get one at same time, will that knock it down?

The whole hose issue is taken care of. The new one is snug on there and even has hose clamps on it to make it even more secure.
